Visit The Sengkang Fire Station

Dear YY n NN n DD
Your first visit to the real Fire Station.
You had a chance to tour round the Sengkang Fire Station and had fun taking rides on the fire engine, lifting platform, and posing with the Red Rhino and other fire fighting vehicles. It was fun having a go at the jet spray and Fire Hydrant as well. Thanks to Aunty Mich who made all these possible by organising this trip.

Macs Red PEA Session at Novena Square

Dear YY and NN and DD
We stumbled upon a Macs Red PEA (Play, Exercise, Art) Session at Novena Square one sunday after your SM lesson.
You 3 had fun doing art with the finger paints made available during the session. Especially you, didi.
The puppet story telling session and exercise portion kept you well entertained too.

Da Vinci The Genius Exhibition at Science Centre

Dear YY
You have told Papa and Mummy that you aspire to be an inventor when you grow up.
This trip is meant for you. Papa thought you might like to see the works of a great inventor, and get some inspirations from there. Leonardo DaVinci (1452-1519) was better known for his Mona Lisa Portrait, or at least to your ignorant Mummy. :)
He was also an inventor, artist, scientist and thinker of all times.
YY, you went into the exhibit well equipped with a notepad and pencil, with every intention to record down the things that interest you. It was timely too as no photographing was allowed in the exhibit hall. What struck Mummy was the first exhibit of Da Vinci. It showed tiny notebook pages that Da Vinci scribbled his ideas and inventions onto. What coincidence!
Dear NN and DD, you were pretty bored as these exhibits were too profound for your understanding.
We explored the other exhibitions in the Science Centre where you 2 younger ones had much more fun. Especially at the eco-garden where the treehouse stood.

The 1st Bowling Experience

Dear YY,
It was a grab-the-ball-and-bowl kinda experience for you this time.
4 of us (minus Didi) was actually going for the 3-D movie "Up" when we passed by the bowling alley at Marina Square. We had only 30 minutes to spare before the start of the movie, and Papa thought of letting you have a go at bowling.
Not much time to trial and error for you, but still sufficient to have a complete game.
You had fun of course!

NN, surprisingly, you were pretty sensible when Mummy explained to you that the bowling ball is too heavy for you.

Loving you all

National Day 2009

Dear YY n NN n DD
Yr 2009 would be the last year we spent National Day at your 1st Home in Punggol 21. The RC National Day Celebration would also be the last public event that Papa helped out in Coral RC as a grassroot leader. We are shifting to our new premises in a month's time or so.
You had fun celebrating in your preschool (YY, and NN), and had equally fun time enjoying the activities lined up for the celebration near the basketball court at our block downstairs.

YY, you asked Mummy how come this year we are not going to the actual NDP at Marina. My dear boy, Mummy didn't manage to get any tickets this year. You are actually a very lucky boy. Only 6 years old, and you have already been to NDP 2x, both at the old stadium, and the new floating platform. The fireworks were real nice up close and personal right?

p.s: Dear YY, 2009 is also the last year you celebrated National Day at your presch. Come next year, you will be celebrating in your Primary school. :)

Mummy's Birthday

Dear YY, NN and DD
PaPa bought a birthday cake and some flowers to celebrate Mummy's birthday. It was very sweet of him to do so. Mummy felt even happier watching you 3 blowing out the candles , and enjoying the ice cream cake later on.

Mummy's next birthday, there will be 4 junior Lims with us. :P

CM's Excursion - Trip to the S'pore Arts Museum (PreN2)

Dear NN
We went to the SAM with your pre-sch for the An Unbroken Line
The Wu Guanzhong Donation Collection
.

Papa and Mummy took leave to accompany you for this CM's trip. It happened to be Papa's birthday on this day too!
We reached the school quite late. By then, most of your trip mates had already arrived with their parents. You were quite excited to take the bus and sat pretty still. You actually reminded Papa and Mummy to buckle you up. :)
On the trip there, Ms Lee told Mummy you had been inviting your teachers and classmates to go over to our new place, and even told them that there is swimming pool at our new house. My innocently silly girl. :P
We waited for our turn to be ushered into the museum. The kids were all goofy-ing around and having fun while waiting at the lobby.
As our group was too big, we were split into 2 groups.
Our first stop was the Art Loft for some silkscreen art session.
The kids were taught to use marker pens to draw over silkscreen.
NN, you wanted to draw a frog, so Papa held your hand to trace one. You went on to draw the tiny tadpoles, pond and sky. You even contributed a bunch of grapes for the frog family. :P
It was interested watching the instructor transfer your silkscreen drawing onto a piece of paper, using some special glue after that.
After this, we were ushered into the gallery for the Wu Guangzhong Exhibition on Animals. At that instant, you were getting restless and refused to participate. Gradually when left alone with a piece of paper to record down the animals you saw on the exhibits, you actually explored the exhibited art pieces by yourself and told us what you saw.
It was back to school after this.
On the trip back, you generously offered your sweets to all your teachers.

Hugs & Kisses
P/S: YY, you visited the same art exhibitions at SAM one week earlier with your preschool mates. You enjoyed it very much and even told Mummy what to look out for in the museum. :P

Nicolle, all Tied Up

Dear NN
For a long long time, you have been coming home from school with your hair all bundled and tied up with bits and pieces of your hairclips, hairbands, etc. All courtesy of Ms Lee, and sometimes Ms Zarina too. One Friday evening, Mummy peeked into your class and saw Ms Lee patiently combing and tying up your hair while the usually-active You actually sat still obediently. Really a surprise because everytime we try to tie your hair at home, you will either be full of excuses and run away, or will be monkeying around while we chide you for not sitting still enough.
This is just one of the small difference in your behaviour when it comes to Nicolle-in-school and Nicolle-at-home. Nevertheless, still the Nicolle all of us love.
