I Love Ice Creams!

Dear NN
Mummy loves that joyful shriek that you always let out whenever there is an ice cream in sight for you. Your KorKor Ryan is equally happy to see one too, but for you, it is more special. The fact that you can eat ice cream happily without any care or intervention from Mummy and Papa means that you have been totally "cured" of your cows' milk allergy. You used to be allergic to all dairy products and a mere sampling of ice cream/ yoghurt would bring all the rashes onto your poor mouth and face. Your first visit to KKH A&E Dept previously was also due to the first introduction of formula milk (similac) at the tender age of 8mths old. Many a times, your poor KorKor had to hide in the kitchen to enjoy his treat of ice cream or yoghurt. Mummy is really glad that we are able to enjoy all these together as a family now.

Loving You

The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Other Eric Carle Favourites

THE VERY HUNGRY CATERPILLAR AND OTHER ERIC CARLE FAVOURITES
Back by popular demand, Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia, Canada will perform three of Eric Carle’s stories - The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Little Cloud and The Mixed-Up Chameleon. Each story will be narrated in full. Puppeteers will manipulate life-like animal puppets in Black Light but you cannot see anyone except the puppets which will glow in the dark. Every character that comes alive on stage looks exactly like it does in the book that both parents and children have come to adore. Presented by ACT 3 International.

Dear YY and NN
We watched the Hungry Caterpillar Show at Victoria Theatre Last Saturday (22/11/08 4pm). This was the first show you ever watched in VT. We had a very good view of the stage from our 2nd row. It was such a spontaneous show for kids and had none of those hush hush atmosphere typical of a VT play. Both of you had great fun shouting out the shapes Little Cloud turned into, and were great at predicting the food the Hungry Caterpillar ate, even before the next scene came along. Maybe cos you 2 have always been avid readers of Eric Carle Stories at home?

NN, my darling ger, you are so funny. When The Hungry Caterpillar ate thru 2 pears on Tuesday, you started to whin and asked me for milk. Haha. Those colorful and pretty food must had made you salivate.

YY, you are really such a curious boy. You were the first kid to rush up and asked the crew the first question. You asked them why they were dressed in all black.

I could see that you 2 really enjoyed the play thoroughly and had great fun. Papa was just telling Mummy that we should bring you for more of such plays. Mummy will keep a lookout for more great plays and promise that all future plays/ shows shall not share the same fate as that forgotten "Atishoo" show.

The joys of having kids!

Dear YY, NN and DD
Today Auntie Meifeng and Uncle Mun Joo dropped by with 8mth old Baby Shuan En after dinner tonight. Mummy has known Auntie MF for the longest time. We were classmates in Primary 1! We went to the same sec sch, joined the same basketball team, and even became roommates during our stay in the Uni hostel (dat's where Mummy got to know Papa, and Auntie MF's and Uncle MJ's paths crossed. :P) Auntie MF and Uncle MJ were initiated into parenthood only recently with the birth of little Shuan En early this year. But the joy of having a little one to love and dote on is evident in their eyes. Mummy can also sense their protective love towards little Shuan En. The joy of having kids! Only parents will know.....
Mmmm.... Mummy must make an effort to let you 3 kids play more often with little Shuan En. Afterall, we live so near ! Just across the streets. Hope you can be good friends too!

Parent Teacher Session at CM

Dear YY and NN
Last Saturday (15/11/08), Mummy and Papa attended the PTA session to find out how you 2 fare in sch the past half year.

Dear YY
Generally both your teachers, Ms Adeline and Zhuang Laoshi, gave very good feedbacks on your academic achievements.

Good comments from Ms Adeline
- Able to read very well using your phonics skills
- Able to spell 3 or even longer letter words very well. According to her, you even managed to get the word "astronaut" right!
- Grasp math concept very well. Well, Mummy was surprised to hear you reciting multiples of 3 at home once, although Ms Adeline mentioned to me that she had not really start teaching that yet.
- Very interested in new vocabulary

Positive comments from Zhuang Laoshi
- Strong in identifying words
- you exhibit very good memory
- Able to read chinese words well

Negative Remarks from both teachers
- Lose focus during classes sometimes and became too engrossed playing with your frens. Zhuang Laoshi even remarked that it was a lucky thing you can absorb things very fast, hence even though you don't pay attention sometimes, your grades are still above average compared to your peers.
- Another thing that made us very anxious is your anger management. According to your teachers, you have started to assume the role of an adult and lash out or pinch your friends when they don't listen to you. Papa and Mummy were real upset to hear this. Zhuang Laoshi taught you to put your hands by your sides everytime you are angry, and Ms Adeline told you to voice out your emotions instead of venting your anger through actions.
Mummy really hope you would ride over this phase very soon.

Dear NN
Time really flies. We are already attending your 2nd PTA in CM. You have become well adjusted in sch. There were some hiccups along the way after we came back from our trip as you were sick, followed by the change from PreN1 to PreN2 class. You cried alot in the mornings for a few weeks when Mummy drove you to sch. Mummy was really happy when all your cryings suddenly stopped last Thursday and have not returned since. Yippee! My cheerful Niko is back.
We met both your PreN2 teachers, Ms Juliana and Zhuo Laoshi, together.
Good comments
- Very very independent gal, able to do your tasks without much help
- Very verbal too. Able to express yourself very well
- No misses during the afternoon naps when you go diaperless. (Mummy is real proud of you!)
Not so good comments
- Throw tantrums in classes sometimes, but able to calm down after teachers talk to you.

At first, when Mummy heard abt your being transferred to the elder Pre N 2 class, Mummy was quite concerned that you might not be able to get used to it. However Ms Juliana assured Mummy that the rest of your PreN 2 classmates really dote on you and want to help you with everything. You, being the independent little gal that we love so much, of course reject and insist on doing things by yourself. But you still get along very well with them. The teachers are also thoughtful to let you do simpler worksheets fit for your age.
Mummy would have like to speak to Ms Bavani and Lee Laoshi as well. Afterall, they had been your teachers for a longer time and Mummy might have unearthed more from them. However, we were almost the last family there and both the PreN 1 teachers had left by the time we finished.

Anyway, what is important is for both you, YY and NN, to enjoy your preschool times and have wonderful memories in Character Montessori.

Orangey Orange!

Dear NN
You suddenly have this craze over the color Orange recently. It started in Disneyland when you insisted on taking a ride only on the Orange Dumbo, followed by the Orangey car in Autopia TomorrowLand. Everyone could see your excitement when you saw the Orange Car approaching our slot.
Even back in Singapore now, you still insist on only Orange color, from your cutlery, to your mug, and even the books you choose! Even that green straw that PoPo gave you to sip your drink, you rejected and wanted a Orange one instead!
And you have this imposing idea that your Kor Kor's favorite color must be Green! since he likes Ben 10 so much. You have really grown up into a little lady with a mind of her own. :)

Mummy will try to pen down more. Pardon Mummy for this long lag since the last entry.
