Dear NN
Pardon Papa and Mummy. Both of us decided not to let you celebrate your belated birthday in preschool afterall. By the time you were cleared of hfmd and could return to school, one week had lapsed since your bday. Hence we thought it would have been more appropriate to let you share your goodie bags with your classmates instead. So this year's planned Dora cake would have to be your 4th birthday cake next year, if you are still a Dora-fanatic one year older.
You had a fun time packing your goodie bags and even re-assured Mummy that "It was ok no cake in school. Goodie bag also can." Those were your exact words.

Nicolle Turns 3 today

Dear NN
You turn 3 today. Even though Mummy and Papa couldn't bring you out for a celebration as planned, you still enjoyed your birthday at home. You are really a very blessed little girl. So many people remember your birthday.
Besides the mini (5 days in advance) celebration with your preschool mates, Popo and your Er Shu and San Shu also bought you present, and Yi Po came over specially to our house today to celebrate with you too. She also brought along a little cake for you and didi to share. You seem to be very seasoned in cutting cake now. You managed to cut the cake into equal halves in just one "chop".
Not forgetting your preschool teachers. They are so nice to make you a big big Mickey Mouse birthday card.

Papa and Mummy got you a swensen ice cream cake which suit you and didi perfectly now! (cooling for your ulcers! Hmmm... did Mummy mention didi also contracted hfmd???)
We fetched your YY korkor home from school to join in the celebration. You 2 really miss each other after Korkor's one nite at PoPo's house (our attempt to isolate you 2 from YY korkor!) Of cos, our nagging and reminders to your korkor not to play so close to you fell onto deaf ears...
You really cried very sadly when Papa brought Korkor back to PoPo's house for the nite again.
NN and DD, please get well soon so that all 3 of you can play together soon.

HFMD AGAIN!!

Dear NN
Unfortunately, you contracted HFMD again.
Almost a year after you last got it (exactly 3 days after your 2nd birthday in yr 2008), another strain of hfmd strike again. This time, it is 2 days before your 3rd birthday. :(
Mummy actually delayed making the call to kiv your birthday cake (Dora cake! for your presch celebration) until Papa called to inform that Dr Lilian confirmed it was hfmd (again!).
Mummy really feel sorry that you have to be confined to just within the boundaries of our HDB walls on your birthday.
When Papa told you this morning that you couldnt go out, you actually wailed.
Then just now, you said matter-of-factly to Mummy - "Wednesday is my birthday, but i can't celebrate in school, bcos i have hfm."
Mummy is not sure how much you really understand.
Mummy and Papa just hope that with us keeping you company for the next 2 days at home, you would be equally happy.

Nicolle is turning 3 soon!

Dear NN
In exactly another 4 days, you will turn 3 yrs old.
Aunty Michelle and Kar Hui specially brought your CM classmates, Zavier and Ashley, over to our place to celebrate your birthday on 1st May (labour day!).
They brought along presents and a cake for you too!
You had fun playing with your friends in the midst of some minor tantrums.

Your cake eating habit is totally opposite of Ashley's!
You requested for more cream until Mummy stopped you, while Ashley took the skimmed version of cake without the creamy portion.
DD, you really enjoyed eating (all? almost all!) the cherries found on the cake!

Finally Papa is back!

Dear YY n NN n DD
Papa went for an overseas biz trip for 4 full days last week. The 3 of you camped in Mummy's room for the 4 nites too. Mummy guessed you 3 missed Papa alot those few days.
NN, you actually rushed to the door and declared Papa was back one of the nites when you heard the sound of keys. It turned out to be the Aunty next door opening her door.
Mummy brought all of you to the airport to fetch Papa. Your 3 faces really glowed when you spotted Papa walking out of the arrival hall.
Hope it would be a long break before Papa's next biz trip.

We watched this play with your CM frens, Zavier and Ashley.
YY, as usual, you had your eyes glued to the stage and had an enjoyable time even though it was your 2nd time watching it. (You actually watched with your CM K2 class 3 days earlier!)
NN, after a weepy start when the bear tumbled and fell and scared you a little bit out of your wits, you recovered in time to enjoy this play as well. Mummy had made a mental note then to select seats further away from the stage in future if we ever come to this theatre again. (We were at 2nd row!) The bear would have seem less frightening from afar.
My dear DD, you had a little nap outside the theatre while waiting for us.

We had lunch in Saizeriya at Liang Court, recommended by Aunty Michelle, with all your frens after that.
And surprise, surprise, DD, you actually let Aunty Kar Hui carry for a long time without crying!

Even though you did not get to watch the show, Mummy is 200% that you would have enjoyed your "driving" more!

It's Flashcards Time!

Dear YY n NN n DD
Flashcard session is the routine in our family life now.
Maybe not so for you, YY, now that you are matured enough to handle other more difficult activities.
This actually stem from Mummy's belief in the new age culture of brain training era. And it helps that you 3 enjoy these flashcard sessions very much. Maybe 20-30 years down the road, when you have babies of your own, you may jolly well be doing the same thing, or this belief may have been thrown out by some other reasoning.
At this very instant, Mummy is still happy to continue with this for as long as you like.
